NYAOT Executive Director Issues Statement on EXPRESS NY Executive Order

New York Association of Towns Executive Director Chris Koetzle made the following statement regarding the July 8 Executive Order issued by Gov. Hochul launching the next phase of EXPRESS NY -- a "Regulatory Reset" with the expressed purpose of reducing red tape and reviewing regulations to improve the efficiency of state government.

"Governor Hochul's new Executive Order directs New York State agencies to reform outdated regulations and policies that waste time and money. NYAOT supports modernization at both the state and local levels. Reducing unnecessary barriers created by once well-intentioned but now obsolete regulations and legislation helps ensure taxpayer money is used wisely — and that's why we advocate for modernizing public notice requirements in New York State," Koetzle said.

Gov. Hochul announced the EXPRESS NY initiative at our 2026 Annual Conference in NYC in February.
